By: Arie Slob

To remove the Recycle Bin from your Desktop:

  1. Start the Registry Editor
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Desktop \ Namespace
  3. Expand the Namespace by double-clicking on it
  4. Delete the Key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} (the one with the value Recycle Bin)
  5. Close the registry editor and press F5 to update the Desktop

To restore the Recycle Bin, you have to add the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} key. We have made this easy for you, just download this registry patch. Save it to your desktop, then just double-click to import the registry info in your registry.

NOTE: The Recycle Bin will only be removed from your Desktop. You can still access the Recycle Bin from Explorer.
