Clear the Run Menu

To remove items from the Run menu:

  1. Start the Registry Editor
  2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ RunMRU
  3. To delete an entry, simply delete its key
  4. To delete multiple entries, highlight all of the keys you want to delete, then press delete

NOTE: Do not delete the (Default) or RunMRU values.

To clear the Run menu every time you start Windows 95:

Obtain and install TweakUI, one of Microsoft's PowerToys.

Click on the Paranoia tab, and turn on the Clear Run history at logon option.
