Making a Backup of the Registry

Select Start > Run and in the Open box type scanreg /backup
Please note that you won't notice anything, but the backup is made. You can check the (default) \Windows\Sysbackup folder to check (look for a rb###.cab file with the date/time you made the backup).
To restore a previous copy of your backup, select Start > Run and in the Open box type scanreg /restore
When you have acknowledged that you want to restore a saved registry, you will be presented with a window from where you can choose the registry you want to restore.
