Windows Me and PacBell DSL
When you install Windows Me, you won't be able to connect to PacBell's DSL (Enternet 300) service. The software used by PacBell is incompatible with Me at this point.
Below is a work around, to get you up and running again.
-
Check your version of enternet 300 by clicking on the help button in enternet 300. If you do not have version 1.4, download it from PackBell before continuing.
Important! Do not install it yet as Windows Me will kick you out of the install process if it sees any version of enternet300 on the machine.
- Be sure you know your PackBell username & password before continuing. Delete your current enternet 300 software using the uninstall
- Install Windows Me
- Install Enternet300 v1.4
- Go to Enternet 300 and create your connection using your PackBell account username & password
- Try to connect to PackBell
- If you are getting error 041 NTSP, Select on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Networks. From the configuration tab, click Add > Adapter. From the manufacturer's list choose Network Telesystems > Network Telesystems PPPoE Adapter(NTSP3). Click OK , wait for the installation to finish and then reboot.
- Try to connect again.
- If it still does not work, try removing and reinstalling all of your network adapters and protocols, and enternet 300.
