Kill (Netscape's) AOL Instant Messenger

Here's how to kill (Netscape's) AOL Instant Messenger:

First see if it's listed in Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > AOL Instant Messenger, if so you can remove it from there.

We have had several reports however that AOL Instant Messenger was not listed in the Add/Remove Programs. Here's how to proceed:

  1. Go to \Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\AIM
  2. Double click on aim.exe to start the program
  3. Click the Setup button, and choose the Misc. tab
  4. Uncheck Start Netscape AIM when Windows starts
  5. Click OK and close AOL Instant Messenger forever

Note: The entire AIM directory can be deleted if so desired
