Today Microsoft announced the official name of its next-generation Windows® client operating system, formerly code-named "Longhorn." Video of the name announcement can be seen via the link below.

According to Microsoft, Windows Vista:

• Enables a new level of confidence in your PC and in your ability to get the most out of it.
• Introduces clear ways to organize and use information the way you want to use it.
• Seamlessly connects you to information, people, and devices that help you get the most out of life

Microsoft also announced that Beta 1 of Microsoft Vista, targeted at developers and IT professionals, will be available by August 3rd 2005.
