Internet Explorer 6

Update for Internet Explorer 6 SP1 - Internet Explorer Does Not Correctly Decompress Data with GZIP Data Compression Method

When you use Microsoft Internet Explorer to download or to open data that is compressed with the GZIP compression method, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

Fail to load Domain Tables

The data cannot be downloaded or the data is not available to use or to display.

This problem occurs because of a change that a cumulative security update for Internet Explorer made to the Urlmon.dll file. This change corrected a problem where some compressed files were not parsed correctly over a Security Sockets Layer (SSL) connection while the Do not save encrypted pages to a disk security option in Internet Explorer was selected. For more information read Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 837251.

Outlook Express 6 SP1 Update: Outlook Express Leaks Memory When It Sends an Encrypted E-mail Message

When you use Collaboration Data Objects for Windows 2000 (CDOSYS) to send a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)-encrypted e-mail message, the memory usage of Microsoft Outlook Express will increase after every message is sent. Due to a coding error in the Inetcomm.dll file, a handle to the security context in Inetcomm.dll is not deleted after an encrypted message is sent and remains allocated in memory.

HTTP 404 - File not found

This problem occurs because the cumulative security patch for Internet Explorer that is included in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-032 changes the base URLs of JavaScript functions to the direct scripting sites. Internet Explorer 6 SP1 Update: Slow Performance When You Use Internet Explorer 6 SP1 to View MIME Type File Attachments

When you use Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to view a MIME type file attachment that is handled by a custom ActiveX control, it may take a long time to view the file, particularly if the file is very large. This behavior is different from what you experience in Internet Explorer 6.0 and earlier in the same scenario. Internet Explorer 6.0 and earlier versions create an instance of the ActiveX control before the file is downloaded to the cache. However, in Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, the file is downloaded to the cache immediately -- before an instance of the ActiveX control is created. For performance reasons, this behavior is not optimal, particularly when you view large files.
