Taming Vista's User Account Control
By: Arie SlobIf you want some added safety in case you forget your password, you should create a Password Recovery Disk. To do so, open User Accounts and Family Safety from the Control Panel and click the User Accounts option. From the Tasks column at the left side, choose Create a password reset disk and follow the wizard to create a Password Recovery Disk.
When you ever forget your password, you can click on Reset Password at the login screen. This will verify your access rights, and prompt you to create a new password, which you can use to access your account. Please note that you only will see the Reset Password text once you have entered a wrong password.
You only need to create a password reset disk once. Even if you change your password, your password reset disk will still allow you to reset the password.
Note: You can also use a USB Flash Drive to store the password recovery data on it, in case your system comes without a floppy drive. Just be sure to insert the USB Flash Drive in your computer's USB port before you run the Create a password reset disk wizard.
