Microsoft Longhorn: Beta 1 in March?

Hello Windows users,
 Microsoft continues working on its next generation operating system, currently code-named "Longhorn," and is apparently on target for a Beta 1 release in March/April of this year.
Company sources also indicate that Beta 2 of Longhorn is scheduled for Q3 in 2005, to coincide with the September 2005 Professional Developers Conference (PDC) which will be held in Los Angeles. A shipping date for the final version of Longhorn is set for May 2006, and was officially announced by Microsoft in a press release back in August 2004.
Another change with Longhorn will be the array of product editions Microsoft is planning to release. Although no details have been released by Microsoft, several people who follow the software giant closely have speculated that Microsoft might want to increase the number of product editions. New editions would include a "Starter Edition", a "Small Business Edition" besides the Windows XP editions that are currently available ("Home", "Professional", "Tablet PC" and "Media Center"). A "Super" version combining all functionality of the different editions (excluding the "Starter" edition) is also considered.
None of the product edition names have been finalized, and it could be that Microsoft will initially release only a limited number of product editions (like they did with Windows XP, where initially only the "Home" and "Professional" editions where released). This could be especially true if Microsoft would try to stick to its published release date of May 2006.
