Microsoft Releases Windows XP Service Pack 1a
by Arie Slob
Hello Windows users,
Because of a ruling by the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, last week, which stayed an order that would have required the Microsoft to begin working to bundle Sun Microsystems' Java technology in Windows XP within 120 days, Microsoft released an updated version of XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), XP1a, which dispenses with Microsoft's dated Java version but is otherwise identical to the original SP1.
Microsoft had first planned to release SP1b, which would include Sun's Java technology within 120 days to comply with a previous court ruling, but because of the stay granted, SP1b plans are on hold for the moment.
If you have already installed Windows XP SP1, there is no reason to install SP1a.
Windows-Help.NET Newsletter Publication
You might have noticed that for the past two weeks the Windows-Help.NET Newsletter was not published. The reason for this was that I lost a dear friend in a tragic work-related accident, and my wife and I traveled across Europe to attend his funeral, and console his wife.
Publication returns to normal (once a week) starting with this issue.
