Microsoft Advocates Palladium

by Arie Slob

Hello Windows users,

Microsoft Plans To Secure Windows This week Microsoft started the wheels of it's publicity apparatus to try and overcome the public perception that it isn't to be trusted to do it right.

If the publics perception of Microsoft is like most of you, the company has an uphill battle on its hands!

In a first effort, Microsoft's PressPass Web site posted an interview with John Manferdelli, general manager of the Windows business unit that is building Palladium.

You can read the article here, although I must say that it doesn't contain much additional information to the article I published in last week's newsletter.

Microsoft Recalls Optical Mouse

Microsoft issued a recall for certain IntelliMouse® Explorer, IntelliMouse Optical and Wheel Mouse Optical mouse products that have stopped working or have begun to work intermittently after a period of normal use. According to the open letter Microsoft published on their Web site, symptoms of this condition may include the cursor not moving, mouse buttons not responding or the red tail-light not illuminating. It is also possible that this condition may cause the computer or an open program to stop responding (hang) during or immediately following mouse movements.

Realizing that this sounded all too common to "normal" Windows-related lock-ups, Microsoft added: "If your computer stops responding or hangs without moving the mouse, this is unrelated to the condition described herein."

If you're having problems with your optical mouse, visit the Optical Mouse Replacement Web site for more details.

QuickRun

"I was sooo tired of working my way thru five layers of the Programs Menu to access my favorite programs. QuickRun allows me to go right to them, plus any files I refer to a lot, right from an easily accessible menu. And I really like cleaning up my system tray and moving all those useless little icons into one popup menu. This is a great tool!"
