Application Compatibility Toolkit 2.5

by Arie Slob

Hello Windows users,

This week, Microsoft posted a new version of the Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT). The ACT is a collection of useful tools and documents that enable both application developers and IT professionals to resolve application compatibility issues. The ACT can be used on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

The APC includes the Windows 2000 Server and Professional logo documents, the common compatibility issues whitepaper, and several documents on best testing practices and tools to help fix compatibility issues.

More information is available from the Microsoft Windows Application and Customer Experience Web site. The Application Compatibility Toolkit 2.5 can be downloaded from Microsoft [5.6MB]

OE-QuoteFix

Released by Dominik Jain, OE-QuoteFix is currently receiving many positive comments from people who are using it.

OE-QuoteFix will extend the functionality of Outlook Express in numerous ways! Its main purpose is to modify message composition windows on-the-fly to allow for correct quoting and to change the appearance of your plain-text replies in general. But the second feature is equally practical: OE-QuoteFix can instantly color quoted passages (according to the level of indentation) as you view messages in Outlook Express.

The drawback is that it will only work when both users have OE-QuoteFix installed, so you have to tell your friends & associates to get it too!

OE-QuoteFix works with OE 5.x/6.x and Windows 9.x / 2000 / Me / XP and is Freeware.

For more info and download, see the OE-QuoteFix Web site.

ClipCache Plus

"ClipCache Plus is totally awesome!!! I must use it 50 times a day. All my regular text clips, images, email addresses, and Web site URLs are just a double click away. This brilliant little program probably saves me two hours a day of looking stuff up or typing it over and over. And goodbye to all those miserable ">>>>>" in the emails. It was my lucky day when I read PC World magazine for April and heard about ClipCache Plus."
