Hello Windows users,
If you are (still) using Internet Explorer 5.01, Microsoft has a new update for you!
Microsoft last week quietly released Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 2 (SP2) to the Web. SP2 provides the latest updates and security fixes to Internet Explorer technology. SP2 can be installed as an upgrade to existing versions of Internet Explorer, or on computers with no previous Internet Explorer installation. Total download size for a typical installation is approximately 17BM. However, because setup downloads only those files that are necessary for your computer, this size may vary between 6 and 17MB.
Many people have already upgraded to Internet Explorer version 5.5, but if you are still running an older version of Internet Explorer (4.x or 5.0), you might want to upgrade to version 5.01. Many people still prefer IE 5.01 over IE 5.5, citing the greater stability of the browser.
To determine your Internet Explorer version, click Help on the Internet Explorer Menu, and choose About Internet Explorer from the Menu. You can then use this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article to determine which version of Internet Explorer you are using.
For more information of things that are fixed in SP2, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q261268: List of Issues Fixed in Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 2.
