Dear Windows-Help.NET Subscriber,
Last week Microsoft announced plans that it is going to make Office applications available over the Web.
This comes shortly after an earlier announcement by Sun Microsystems Inc., which announced plans to make office applications from the Star Division available (for free) on the Web.
It was just two weeks ago that Sun announced its acquisition of Star Division Corp., a developer of office productivity applications (Star Office).
According to sources, Microsoft had been planning this move for the past few months, and the move is not merely a reaction to Sun's announcement.
No details about a timetable were disclosed, or whether the service would be offered for free.
Some people see this as the future for office software but others are more cautious. The Internet itself is not reliable enough as an infrastructure. Lots of people still remember the recent MCI outage - what will office workers do if they can't use their applications for 3 days?
InfiniSource, Inc. launches software division:
Rose City Software
InfiniSource, Inc. has launched its new software division Rose City Software, featuring new releases of some of its award-winning programs... popular applications like TweakDUN, DU Meter and ClipCache, all updated within the past several weeks.
Rose City's newest release is version 2.5 of ClipCachePlus, released during the second week of September. Developed by Xrayz Software in collaboration with Rose City Software, this important upgrade to the widely acclaimed Windows® Utility adds a whole new scope to clipboard enhancement with some extraordinary text cleanup features...
- one-click removal of annoying ">>>>" from email
- one-click removal of whitespace and large gaps from text copied from webtables
- one-click removal of linebreaks
- case change, powerful search and replace capabilities
- one-click stripping of HTML tags
- merge clips to create lists
ClipCachePlus is an invaluable aid to word processing, email, and web surfing. Like David matching wits with Goliath, this modestly priced utility offers infinitely more powerful features than the widely touted "Enhanced Windows® ClipBoard" offered by Microsoft's Office 2000. Yet ClipCachePlus is intuitive and easy to master. ClipCachePlus is available as fully functional 30 day trialware and is very reasonably priced at just $19.95.
The release of ClipCachePlus is one more indication that Rose City Software is committed to serving the Internet Community with useful, inexpensive, downloadable shareware.
